I think a 1-0 win for Wanderers, another goal by Hollis

No idea the sort of crowds they usually get but they are right down the table on a freezing day with kick off at an antisocial time plus its on tv so I agree sub 1000 crowd!

Having just heard Marc's interview it looks like it will be another mix and match job on the team.  Great to have TC back; a back three of him, Hollis and Francombe is pretty solid. So I am going for a clean sheet, but not too much action going forward, especially if JP doesn't play.

0-0, but enough to celebrate on return journey.  Great effort by everyone to fill the 5am coach up there. Afraid I will be watching on TV this time.

I'm afraid to say this is getting embarrassing. Harrison MOM forget  the list.

Well I was only 7 people off the actual attendance but 6 goals off the scoreline 🤣

Lots to take away from that game - a dreadful first half, similar to Gateshead. Marc correct in post match in saying that he got the team completely wrong. I don't mind playing a back 4 but Kennedy has to be the LB if you do that. I get that we want to play out from the back but Craig, Hollis and Francomb aren't really the players to do that with I feel.

Very surprised that McManus played LWB again as he was awful against Gateshead there and awful again today. I really am shocked we haven't signed an emergency loan winger to deal with this winger injury situation this last month or so.

Completely different second half once we went to a back 3. Moore helped us get a bit more of the ball and Taylor and McShane really pulled the strings and drove us forward. Gallagher should also be starting every game as we look much more secure when he plays.

Harrison obviously excellent throughout.

Hopefully Pybus and Fuller are ok. Next week is going to be absurdly tough considering Alty beat Solihull 6-1 today...

@calvertskans I totally agree with Gallagher. He has really stepped up from last season, and has become a stronger player this season. I feel as though (maybe through rose tinted glasses) that TC and Francomb did a good job last season playing from the back. TC has been out for awhile, and Francomb has been playing out of position. Hollis is a stronger defender, but he hasn't picked up our pattern of play just yet. Marc did mention in his post-match interview that they might have to change the style of play for the time being, which is read as going more direct.

So great to see Macca getting a brace, and driving more of the game. Harrison has been absolutely crucial for us this season. He has kept us in more games.

Hoping Marc can put together a team for next week against a strong Alty side. He has few options. Really missing Blair, among many others.

The commentator thought we were playing a back 3 in the 1st half, I did as well,   I'm sorry but we can't play out for the back, every goal was us giving the ball away.

Our goals were all well worked goals,  so stop doing things we can't do and I think we would of got 3pts today.

Well, my 0-0 didn't last long!

That was a great come back, as we looked dead and buried at half time.  We have definitely burgled 4 points from the last two games, somehow or other.

I agree that Marc's interview after the game points to a shift in plans for the next few games.  As others have also said, not just Gary, we can't play out from the back, at least in the first half, with current personnel and with opposition primed to press well.  I think we managed to beat the press once in the first half playing out, and that was a bit hairy too.  Odds are not good enough. No choice but to go more direct, and that requires Harry on, especially if Jason is out.  We made this change towards the end of last season with good results. Needs must.

Agree @calvertskans about Gallagher - much improved this season in terms of screening the back four, but he can't be part of a team that plays out from the back routinely. Some emergency loans seem to be the way forward, given where we are with injuries.

It wouldn't surprise me if Marc put out makeshift teams against Alty and then in the Trophy to focus on what will be a massive game against Woking. Would be good to have the likes of Blair and Carter, Alfie, playing and fully fit. Niall is really struggling to be effective at the moment, but he is being asked to do jobs that he is not cut out for.  But great to see Macca back and in the goals again - we have missed his creativity and goals from this time last season.

And no MoM poll this week - Harrison Male is a bigger certainty than Hollis last week. But for him, it would have been all over at half time. A familiar story this season which needs to be fixed. Next week is going to be tough, but so was Hartlepool .....

@baggy wow a makeshift team,

I watched the Altrincham v Solihull Moors game and Altrincham obviously were very good, fast , good link up play, players getting into little pockets.

New signing Marcus Dackers , tall and skilful.

I would just like to see Dorking be really solid at the back and make teams work harder to score against us.

If it was a back 4 yesterday,  why didn't Kennedy play LB. I thought when he has played, he looked decent.

I agree Gary on Calum Kennedy - did really well v Boreham Wood.  I would have had him as LB in a back four and either him or Bobby Joe at LWB if playing a back 3, while we have injuries. He gets quality crosses in, which is what is needed if JP and Harry are in the team.

We got roasted on the break yesterday, partly through giving the ball away cheaply when attacking, but also not having the defensive cover in the right place. That is organisation as much as personnel. But more pace at the back would certainly come in handy.

I did say that when we signed Hollis that we would have a very slow defence and it showed yesterday...

On an unrelated note, Josh Taylor loves a TV game doesn't he?

⚽️ v Oldham (A)

🅰️ v Notts County (A)

⚽️ v Barnet (H)

⚽️ v Fylde (A)

Regarding playing out from the back - my question is, which players do we think are we missing that would better enable us to do that - i.e. - the old Dorking way? Bobby-Joe?

And why isn't Joe Cook playing atm? Not even on the bench yesterday.

@AdeB that is a good question.

For me the answer is DJ Oldaker, now at Chesterfield, but interestingly, not playing every week this season. He made things tick in the promotion season and has never been replaced. I thought Jebb and Kuhl were brought in for that job but neither have been given a good run in my view. Maybe Marc doesn’t rate them enough.

Bobby Joe helps with playing out yes, but he is prone to the odd defensive lapse. He is perhaps better further forward.

I like to see Josh Taylor coming deep to collect the ball and drive forward, but he seems to have been playing further forward this season so perhaps not so influential.

Pybus has been a good addition and is usually looking to get on the ball but is still not as natural a playmaker as DJ.  You have to adapt your style to the players available and atm we don’t have the ability to play out from the back all the time. Like many teams in the league.

Lets see what Carter brings to the team though.
