What a massive win that was!  Just listened to Marc's post match interview and he is spot on, as usual.  One against the head perhaps today, to make up for the ones that went the other way for us and shouldn't have - Oldham, Bromley, Rochdale. I can't see why Boreham Wood are struggling so much this season - must be a lack of finishing power - they could easily have scored a few today from the chances they created.  But I am not a fan of their route one football - they have decent players and I think should be looking to play a bit more football.

Some great performances today: Hollis deserved MoM, a real leader, play maker and hard nosed defender, so a great signing.  Francomb played really well out of position. Kennedy too. Harry did a great job in second half and Pybus relentless. Jimmy did not have his best day going forward but put a good shift in defensively.

We didn't create much going forward, but there were signs in the first half especially of some old Wanderers passing patterns and crossing in from good positions.  With players coming back in there is much to be positive about for the rest of the season. This was a real bonus 3 points today and makes the post match beer go down very well!

I thought we were better today than Marc gave them credit for in the post match interview. Every man worked ridiculously hard against a very physical and aerial Borehamwood. Hollis was a superb leader today, ready vocal and instructive to everyone around him! The goal was the cherry on the cake!

To be fair I haven't watched the pre match interview but anyone know why Tony Craig wasn't even on the bench today? He played a bit midweek in the Raynes Park Vale friendly

@dorking-eagle

injured his knee on Thursday, had another injection in it.

Not sure if we will see much more of TC this season,  a few games here and there I feel.  We definitely need another centre forward I think.

Re Cook.  I noticed that when he was substituted at Gateshead he went straight to the dressing room but Marc called him back to the bench.

@dorkingtyke that doesn't look good,

ive heard he's not a good mixer, bit of a loner. He will need to change if he wants to stay at Dorking.

Just watched the highlights.

Boring Wood had 14 attempts on goal with 6 on target (two of which were cleared off the line by Harry).

They had quite a few corners as well.

We had two attempts on goal - both goals.

@dorkingtyke Yup, we created zero apart from the 2 goals and one of those was a keeper error.

Not too fussed about it as we lost Prior after 20 mins and as this point, we just need to scrape together results while we wait for boys to get back fit. Reminds be a bit of the December period last season where the whole squad was ill for a few weeks.

The crowd was definitely a big highlight yesterday after all the recent talk about attendances. 93 more fans than the home game v them last season, albeit that was the August Bank Holiday match. Pretty sure they took more away fans last season though. It was also 122 fans up on the closest home weekend last season (York).

On a side note, there was definitely not 130 away fans there yesterday. I hand counted about 40-50 at one point. I really don't get how they plan to succeed in the EFL with their current fanbase. They've been very close to promotion a few times in recent seasons...

The Wood will certainly be wondering how they didn't win that one, but Male again outstanding in goal and some gritty defence against a barrage of crosses to their big lumps.

Gary, on JP, he is getting wrestled every game and not always getting as much joy out of the refs as he did in the NLS. Yesterday the ref didn't give many soft fouls  - no problem with that as long he is consistent, but players have to adapt to it quickly.  Let's hope JP's injury is not bad as he is a great finisher and defender of set pieces.  Harry always seems to to do well coming off the bench - he wins more than his fair share in the air against massive defenders and won some big defensive headers towards the end yesterday. I hadn't spotted the goal line clearances either!  I am sure he will link up well with Alfie when needed too.

Bit if a worry re Cook if that is true Gary, as he has played really well recently.  Maybe its just a week in the cooler from Marc and he'll be back next week.

The £5 off for season ticket holders from other clubs was a masterstroke - Dorking are a very 'young' club, less than a decade of any sort of regular support so of course most through the gate have to be won over from their other clubs. Wouldn't surprise me if a significant percentage of our fans only come to Dorking games as their 'second' club (ie less often than their usual club)

Has the club ever done any sort of survey or analysis about the support and where it comes from?

@calvertskans Yeah I counted the Wood fans too - got to 45 I think. Not sure where they got the 130 from! Attendance was great - think it was swelled by quite a few fans of other clubs looking for a football fix - certainly a large group behind the goal seemed almost neutral. Maybe they bought away tickets and Dorking have counted away sales rather than actual turnstyle clicks? Anyway, let's hope a few of them decide that Dorking is actually the place to be...!

On the game - Alfie's finish was superb, all battled so well - such an important 3 points. Agree that JP seems to get battered every week - and disagree that he's not doing so much outfield; to me his holding up and little flicks/lay offs are as good as ever. Any news on the injury at all and do we have a MoM poll?

Strange to think it could be 4 weeks until we're back at Meadowbank too (unless we get a home Trophy draw..)

I am guessing the 45 away fans that were counted were the ones standing along the side?

Because there was that number of away fans (give or take a handful) in the Stonegate Stand seats (which were pretty chokka)

@AdeB - agree that Jason does a lot of good link up work too, including finding himself out wide on the right sometimes looking to cross.

Have added an MoM poll, but I think it might be a bit one-sided! You never know though.

There were plenty of Wood fans in the Stonegate Stand - I reckon the total number was nearer 130 than 45 to be fair. Agree the fiver off was a great move - I wonder if we know how many came on this ticket?
