Dorking Wandering
The Dorking Wanderers FC Fans Forum
A return to Meadowbank as we face 3rd placed Eastborune Borough tomorrow. The Sports currently sit 1 point ahead of us on 75 points and are the form team in the division at the moment with 4 wins and a draw from their last 5 games.
Brennan Camp returns from suspension but Marc advised that a couple may be rested due to slight issues. He also mentioned Dan Pybus is highly likely to be involved tomorrow as well.
Predictions:
Dorking 2-1 Eastbourne (Young, Rutherford)
1,929 att. (195 away)
Dorking (2) 3 Eastbourne (1)2 Rutherford, Prior, Young
1,877 (156 from Sussex)
Should be a decent crowd in again for a sunny Saturday. Hopefully the lads turn up and get those 3 points.
Narrow home win , 2-1. Carter and Prior
Got to win this one as need to improve home form. 2-1 Carter and Rutherford. 1768 with 305 from Eastbourne.
Unusually, I have a bad vibe for today. EB were pretty decent at their place I remember- some pace up front. We don’t create much at home. 1-3.
Really hope I’m wrong. A draw would not be disastrous before we can get back on grass again.
Very positive news that Camp is back, makes a massive difference in both boxes, one of our best players.
Eastbourne a full time side with a good coaching set up and some strong players.
I think this will end 2-1 Dorking if we are on it today, we are due a decent home win.
Good win today. Felt better side even when down to 10 . Eastbourne and ref disappointing. Felt Norville-Williams MOM. Sending off bit harsh but was foul and possibly last man. Their captain, Barry should have been sent off for twice squaring up/pushing our players over
Hope Prior not too badly injured, otherwise may need to get in a loan striker for run in and possible playoffs.
That was a massive win. Really good performance against a team who didn’t play well, and didn’t look like a team on a hot streak of form.
The sending off has been overturned - the assessor in the stand disagreed with the decision. So no ban for Francombe. Our pen looked a bit soft - ref evening things out? Would need to see it again.
Agree Norville-Williams was superb, as he has been for weeks now and Camp is a real threat going forward. Hope JP injury is not too bad. Carter should be back next week.
@Crawleysth - I think the window is closed now so don't think there is an option of any new striker on loan. Hopefully the injury isn't too bad or that Murphy is back next week at the very least.
Really good win yesterday and probably the best performance at Meadowbank since Chesterfield last season with all things considered. We seem to play well with 10 men as I thought we were also decent against Worthing on Boxing Day after Briggs was sent off. In fact, we've only lost 2 of the 6 games we've played with 10 men this season (Slough and Worthing) if you don't include the Tonbridge game where Brooking was sent off after the final whistle.
Agreed that JNW was immense again which is great to see. Josh Taylor and Jimmy Muitt also superb. We can't be too far away from seeing Camp playing higher up the pitch considering he is on 7 goals and 2 assists this season, despite missing 3+ months through injury!
Really surprised at how poor Eastbourne were. They arrived as one of the form teams in the league but looked like one of the worst to visit Meadowbank this season. I wonder if they are running out of steam a bit or just feeling the pressure a bit?
The visits to St Albans and Bath will be really tricky and I hope we don't lose concentration. Playing teams fighting against relegation can be tougher than promotion teams at this stage in the season. If we can win these next two and the Hampton game then I reckon we will probably go in to the Worthing game with a small points lead over them which would be really useful.
@baggy Does the assessor have authority to just overturn a ban after a game? Surely an appeal still needs to be submitted to the FA? I actually thought that, although it was a bit soft, it did look like a red to me.
The penalty looked stonewall though as the guy just kicked a chunk out of TC.

Yes, I agree the red card looked soft but probably right decision, and Marc seemed to agree with decision in his post match interview. I was actually standing right in front of incident, and it looked like a little push to me. Agree definite penalty looking at highlights.
You are right Tom, the transfer window closed on Thursday, but Marc did say that McShane will be back for run in so hopefully he will be able to cover if need be.
Don't know about another striker but maybe Marc has much much bigger ambitions what with Reece James watching the match!!! And not surprisingly getting very politely mobbed when recognised and trying to get out from the main stand!!
Sad to say @Cmldjjd, Reece James wasn’t cheering for us yesterday!
And as for the sending off, @tomCalvert, I guess it goes to appeal yes but the report of the assessor must be pretty decisive ?
