After a midweek postponement at York, we face Gateshead at Meadowbank on Saturday. Gateshead put 6 past us back in November but fortunes have changed for them since then as they've seen their first team squad decimated by a mixture of transfers, loan recalls and injury. They come in to the game with 1 win from their last 5 matches.
On the injury front, Marc said post-match on Saturday that Jimmy Muitt should return to the squad. You would also expect Alfie Rutherford to return to the side after his loan spell at Weymouth came to an end. Briggs and McShane continue to miss out through injury but no word yet on Barry Fuller after he limped off late against Macclesfield. Isaac Philpot will be absent after he joined Horsham on a short term loan deal and you would expect Luke Moore to be suspended (not sure if it was appealed or not?).
Predictions:
Dorking 2-1 Gateshead (Prior, Carter)
1,768 att.
Male
Francomb Craig B.Taylor
Blair J.Taylor Pybus Bowerman
Carter
Prior Rutherford
Subs: Hollis, Gallagher, McManus, Muitt, Ottaway
Well that was a relief! Great 3 points for sure.
Difficult to judge the performance against ten men but there were some improvements across the pitch I thought. Pybus sat deeper to help control Dinanga - who was a handful- and Bobby Joe was constantly getting up the left and slinging in quality crosses. As did Blair on the right. Great to see Alfie back; Jimmy too, who was unlucky not to score at the end there.
Coukd have done with a second goal to help the nerves but will take that. Onwards and upwards!!
Yeah great - and deserved - win. Wing play was top notch, especially first half. MoM for me either Bobby J, Blair or Carter.
Thought Gateshead looked decent tbh, but after their dismissal, they seemed determined to get one of our players sent off, going down at every opportunity which was frustrating. Ref was card happy, but that was certainly a red.
What a great 3 points … awesome 🙌
2 away games coming up this week against teams in and around us so 3 or 4 points over these two games would be good 🤔
With the reduced number of injuries the shape of the team and having players in their correct position makes a big difference … good signs for the weeks ahead 👍
Voted Bobby Joe MOM

The diving for free kicks from Gateshead was ridiculous. I didn’t see the foul on Jason for the sending off but there seemed like no complaints.
Could easily have been another goal at the end for us too. Defence looked more solid too.
Attendance was 1738, Tom you were soooo close!

Great 3 points and much better performance although we should have scored more. Bobby J MOM for me.
Bobby Joe walking away with MOM ⚽️ 🙌 👏👏
More balanced and forward thinking side when he plays and so good we have players back available now

I know! I think I even put 38 and changed to 68 😂 Was also only 1 off the correct lineup as well!
Good performance, deserved 3 points. Were the better side even before the red card. Pretty sure Prior's goal was onside as well so should have been more comfortable.
I actually went for Pybus as MOM as I think he was excellent at cutting off danger throughout and got us playing in the first half. Bobby was excellent though and played some outrageous cross field switches.
Hopefully we can kick on and pick up a few points from these next couple of away games.
@calvertskans I know I bang on about it a lot on this forum, but Bobby-Joe is, for me, a superb player. Not only does he have real skill and pace, but he can play those stunning long passes too - and has all the grit, determination and positivity that makes a great Wanderers player.
Haven't seen the highlights yet, a good 3pts by the sounds of it, if we start beating teams around us. (Home & away) no doubt we will stay up.
Another clean sheet! Gateshead spent more time trying to get a red pulled on us, than trying to score. I think Bobby-Joe and Seb on the left were working well off each other. Hoping this brings in more confidence, and a run is upon us to ensure we stay in this league for another season.
@adeb He is excellent when at his best and there aren't many players in the league you want to have in your side when playing against 10 men.
I do think Hollis will be back in the side against Dagenham and Boreham Wood though as they are taller and more physical sides.
Bobby could possibly play on the right hand side though depending on how bad the knock that Blair took is. Could also play a back 4 with Bobby at left back.
I always think Bobby-Jo deserves to start, he had a great game yesterday. Thought his namesake had a good game as well.
It was great to see Macca come and stand on the bank with us. Declined the opportunity to give us a song, but he seemed in quite good spirits.
I agree with @TomCalvert that Bobby Joe won’t start every game, against the more physical teams, at least not at left back in a 3. But he is the only player who can make those huge switches and also consistently gets down the line to make good crosses. I would be happy to see him in the team on either wing depending on fitness levels. And Pybus playing deeper is good extra insurance against the counter attack, which Bobby Joe can help with, wherever he plays.
