A dedicated thread following on from comments on other threads)

I see the club are doing a double ticket deal for the games against - Woking (Sat 16th Dec) and Oxford City (Boxing Day)

which gives a saving on the gate price for both fixtures

This is positive in my opinion, well done DWFC

It does feel like attendances haven't really gone up this season, if anything it feels like a small dip

I could be wrong of course and haven't studied the numbers in depth (any stattos?)

Last season we did have a freezing December night game at home to Maidstone which had less than 900 IIRC

The club also tried the positive step of moving a midweek game forward to a Saturday (after I had made other commitments lol)

Our £18 adult price is pretty good, and I think they also did a reduced family price recently v Dagenham, and a £5 discount for other clubs season ticket holders.

What SHOULD our attendances be? Aldershot's were going down and down for a few years, but a good season and theirs have improved

Are away fans not coming as much (??) because they came last season and have 'ticked our ground off'

What would make people come more often? Less queues for food and drink? (new fan zone is decent by the way) More chance of getting a seat (most are reserved)? Cheaper child pricing? Half time penalty competiton or something?

Solihull and Boreham Wood are 'small clubs' for support, would they get bigger gates in the EFL if they went up?

What WOULD we get if we made it to League 2?

I don't like to think Marc and the directors are massively flogging themselves every hour for the club and the local public interest has hit a ceiling?

Thoughts?

I think there will be an impact on attendance at Fylde, with that early KO. But I don’t expect it has much impact over the course of a season. Would be interesting to compare the stats over the whole season on attendances, (taking account of the big clubs leaving last season).

I reckon the ground facilities have some effect for the casual footy fan. I was really impressed by the Bromley ground - home facilities particularly. They chose to put money in new facilities rather than players, building for the future, even if current attendances are not huge. The revenue they generate from the bar/food outlets must be massive compared to ours.

Feedback on other club's fan pages is that we are a welcoming club in a nice area with lots of pubs that's well worth a visit. Marc's PR with money behind the bar for away fans made all the big football pages on social media. Oldham Groundhopper (currently 50k followers on Facebook) named us as his fans of the year last season and said he's never been treated better as an away fan (he goes to away games most nights a week) and there were hundreds of comments agreeing or people saying they will take an interest in us.

I grew up in Dorking but live in London currently and travel down for all the home games and London away games, notice a trickle jumping on the train from Epsom onwards but would love to know if anyone else comes from similar way. Even met one lad from Dartford who says he travels to every Dorking home game after following us on Bunch of Amateurs, which is impressive considering it's a mission to do that journey on the train and Dartford have a club 🤣

For perspective I feel like we've come a long way in a short space of time, just before pandemic hit when we were getting 1,000 felt massive then a huge surge in interest following promotion to NL. Surely that will grow once we're established or if we get a big cup game.

@georges Yes it would be really interesting to know more about who travels from where, and who is actually from Dorking etc. Maybe the club could do a survey, as I'd imagine it would be quite useful information in terms of marketing and promotions. Perhaps someone could suggest this.

Dorking born and bred, schooled and lived there for 35 years of my life. Live 15 mins away now, parents in Dorking also season ticket holders. Former watchers of Dorking FC and played for Wanderers. There are loads of locals at games, some of whom no longer go to their clubs in London anymore but watch Wanderers instead.

I don't think it would be too fair to do marketing and promotions outside of the local area, just think clubs like Leatherhead, Merstham, Epsom & Ewell, Guildford City wouldn't like us treading on their toes

The "Dorking and Leatherhead Advertiser" is mostly DW coverage these days with us being 3 leagues above the Tanners

Ultimately social media reach has no geographical boundaries and that is what drives interest and ticket sales
