It's that time again - local rivals Horsham away in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round. Last year saw a horrific 2-0 defeat against a depleted Wanderers XI but let's hope this years depleted Wanderers XI can fare better.

The Horsham side contains two ex-Wanderers in the form of Isaac Philpot and Charlie Hester-Cook, while Sami El-Abd remains as a coach.

Brennan Camp, Aaron Kuhl, Luke Moore and James McShane remain mid to longer term absentees while you would expect Barry Fuller and Jordan Norville-Williams to miss out also. Rhys Murphy is expected to come back to the side but there is no news on the worrying injury thta Josh Taylor suffered against Weymouth. Bobby-Joe Taylor apparently serves the last game of his suspension even though he already has missed the last 3 matches. Josh Brooking is apparently also unlikely to feature to avoid being cup-tied.

Predictions

Horsham 1-1 Dorking (Craig)

2,674 att.

                           Foulkes

          Francomb     Craig      Gallagher

Briggs        Pybus         McManus       Bowerman

                            Carter

                    Prior          Murphy

Subs: Cahusac, Brown, Wooster, Myles, Muitt, Rutherford, Rawlins

I reckon Briggs will be rewarded with a start after some really good recent performances. Pace of our back 3 really concerns me and we don't really have any other options if they pick up an injury...

A very winnable Margate (A) would have awaited us if we had won

........A free weekend next week will be a much needed rest, although I wonder if there is an idea to get the Hemel Hempstead away game that day rather than on a Monday considering they also lost yesterday.

I know another Sat-Mon combo isn't ideal, but given it's in late November I think it is best left alone. We would be mad to pull a fixture forward needlessly when we are in the middle of an injury crisis and in poor form.

@dorking-eagle Yeah agreed, an extra game now is probably worse than a Sat/Mon combo 2 months from now.

I think a 2 week break after the next game is just what Marc and the players need, to help heal any physical injuries that can heal quickly,

and re-focus mentally for the next part of the season.

Crawley recently  had a 2 week break due to the international  break, and Marc should do what they did. A few days break and rest the first week, and then normal training/build up the second.

I've always been a bit of a BJT fanboy - always puts in a shift, and his left foot crosses are often very high quality, something we just don't have on the left with Seb playing as an inside forward who has to cut back every time to play with his right foot. Bobby does have a tendency to have a bit of a defensive rick in him though, but I see no reason why he can't play a more forward role, and then that doesn't get exposed as much.

Very good chance that, with the 1 weekend break, we may only have to play one more game without Norville-Williams, McManus, Muitt and Kuhl as they could all be back for Hornchurch on Oct 5th.

JNW looked great against Aveley, considering he was thrown in after a layoff. Always a threat down that left (albeit against 10 men) and although the crosses were often hitting the first man, I'm sure that was mainly down to rustiness and would improve. He was constantly beating the fullback and whipping balls across.

Agreed  Big fan of BJT. I would start him every game in the left winger position. Always looks dangerous when attacking or shooting.

@crawleysth Same - my favourite player if I was pushed on it. Chronically underused imo and a typical Wanderers player.

Only Josh Taylor played more games than Bobby-Joe last season!
