Confirmed now that McShane damaged his ACL against Oxford City on Boxing Day and requires surgery. Presumably means he will miss the rest of the season and beginning of next sadly. Gutted.

Surely an incoming needed now? Definitely need a Rutherford recall after the Macclesfield game you would imagine.

We really have unbelievable luck with injuries.

That's really bad news and all the best to Macca

I was nearby pitch side when it happened & we thought we heard a worrying 'noise' & were very surprised he carried on at all

Let's hope he has a successful op & rehabilitates ok

Not the best news to start the year ... but a good result yesterday 😀

@sddwfc Yeah I immediately though ACL as well. Looked very similar to the Alfie one with the sudden change of movement and knee twisting. Insane that he played on for 25 mins - hopefully that means it isn't a full rupture and not quite as serious?

Also, is that now 5 ACL injuries in 5 and a half seasons at Meadowbank? Ray, El-Abd, Briggs, Rutherford, McShane?

The way he went down it looked like ACL, then when he came back on and jogged about I thought it couldn't be, but I guess that was because we'd used all 3 subs (NB - sooner the VNL has 5 subs like any normal league, the better)

That pitch really is rotten. Every 3 years they dump a load of black rubber crumb on it and somehow certify it as ok (I guess the bounce and roll of the ball is the only real criteria)

The club has planning permission already in place for an artificial pitch at Westhumble - would be excellent if when financing the freehold purchase of the stadium, there's enough in the kitty to somehow roll up the 3G and re-install it at Westhumble? Wouldn't be cheap of course, but you could cover some of the cost by getting a low step club in as main tenant - eg Epsom & Ewell? And shift loads of community use onto it (without Surrey FA getting their hands on the revenue)

Then get hybrid powergrass for Meadowbank?

Sutton Utd managed to get theirs up and running in a close season (with just the first few games played away) with the first game played on it by Aug 28th

Has to be in the clubs thoughts

Get well soon Macca.

And be rid of the 3G from Meadowbank - as soon as the club own the freehold then surely it's their call? If the Surrey FA don't like it then they can clear off.

Macca has served Dorking Wanderers well.  Would a post-season benefit match be appropriate? Or is that premature?

I just don't think it'd be a particular money spinner in reality. If pre-season most local opponents would only draw a 750 crowd tops, with ticket prices at what, £10 (less for kids/concessions). The thought behind the gesture would be more meaningful than the likely financial return of course.

Very very sad news for Mcshane.

Hopefully not but this could be the end of his career.

Definitely need to get a new player in but I think Mcshane must be on a 2 year contract so is entitled to be paid.

Could be a tricky decision for Marc this one.

Get well soon James.

One thought I did have is that McShane's game doesn't rely on pace and explosiveness, which is what you struggle to get back after an ACL, so he might comeback in a better position than Briggs or Alfie did.

Seems to happen to our best, longer term players too. Horrible coincidence.
