Dorking Wandering
The Dorking Wanderers FC Fans Forum
Dorking return to FA Trophy action away to the phoenix team of the former EFL side, Macclesfield. They currently sit in 4th place in the Northern Premier League (Step 3) and are managed by Alex Bruce (son of Steve Bruce) and part owned by Robbie Savage. Their squad includes Oumar Niasse, who Everton payed £13.5 million for back in 2016 and also John Rooney, brother of Wayne Rooney.
Dorking have a number of players cup tied for this one (Rutherford, Muitt, Cook, Kuhl) but "fortunately" they are all either currently injured or out on loan. Dorking will hope to have Francomb back fit after missing the last couple of games. Kennedy, Ottaway and Muitt are all potentially missing pending squad news from Marc later in the week. Briggs is likely to be out for a while after coming off injured early against Oldham on Saturday.
Predictions:
Macclesfield 1-2 Dorking (Prior x 2)
2,879 attd.
Male
Francomb Craig Hollis
B.Taylor Gallagher Pybus Bowerman
J.Taylor
Carter Prior
Subs: Huk, Philpot, Fuller, McManus, Moore, Blair, Ottaway
Macclesfield (0)1 Dorking W (1)3 (Carter 2, Prior)
2,210 (101 Wanderers)

Slav is also going out on loan but not sure whether it will be before or after this weekend.
I can't work out how to start a new topic !!! 🤪
So I'll just put my thoughts on here.
Just seen the 25 year anniversary kits. I like the home kit but sorry hate the 2nd and the 3rd kit. I do wonder how teams at all levels can just have colours that doesn't even belong to the club colours. If that makes any sense.
@happy-hammers The away kit is, I think, a replica of DWFC's original colours, so a bit of history there.
The home kit would usually be red and white stripes, however the club are selling the right for fans to put their names on them (and if there was red and white stripes then half the area of the shirt - the white stripes - wouldn't be able to have name on). It's a combination of something special for the 25th anniversary, and a bit of a fundraiser for the club for all the things the club wants to do. Personally I think it looks a bit too reminiscent of an Aldershot shirt for me, but I totally get the principle of trying to maximise space for fan names.
The away kit, black and blue stripes, is a recreation of the original kit from 1999. Story goes it was given to DW by the pub the players used to drink in after games - the Royal Oak in Stonebridge, some say it was also the Seelec Delta away kit (but maybe they got it off DW 2nd hand as there were so many players crossing over between the 2 clubs in the early days of DW?
(see pic below of 1999 Dorking playing at Brockham Big Field - click on link)
The orange 3rd kit - I guess (and it's only my guess) that the club saw how well this years orange kit sold (it really is popular with the fans!) and thought lets do another version of that? Personally I would have done a totally different 'bright colour' for the 3rd kit, as some people might not buy something 2 years running so similar, but if the players like the orange, plus we've had several good away results in that colour then why not stick with it again?

@dorking-eagle Great pic, that. Really shows in one image how far DWFC have come - maybe it should be on display somewhere
@dorking-eagle I always assume that it was from The Royal Oak in Brockham, due to playing in Brockham?
I like the kits but the actual reveal of them was pretty bad. The low resolution computer generated concept clip makes them look a bit crap, especially with no front sponsor yet. The kit reveal for the current season kits last year was much better.
Also, I wonder if we'll do what some Premier League sides do and wear next season's kit for a few matches at the end of the current season.

No, deffo the one in Stonebridge near Chart Downs estate. I have one of the shirts.

What a bummer of a game.
That is all.
Just hope that the form turns round now with just league games to play. Club massively has to stay in the division to even begin to fulfill all of its planned off the field projects it dreams of doing. And you can't compare Tonbridge and Hemel to quality trips like Oldham and York

Today Macc were really good to be fair, but as good as they were, we were so poor
I'm not saying I wouldn't keep supporting the club of course I would, and still go most games. Some new places in the division below too since we were last there. But if we don't massively improve and quick then I think we could well go down because we do fairly regularly play awful. The majority of our players seemed to have gave up at 0-3 today.
