New signing announced - Charlie Carter from Eastleigh

'Dorking Wanderers are today delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Charlie Carter from Eastleigh FC for an undisclosed fee'

https://www.dorkingwanderers.com/post/charliecarter

I think he could be just what we are after, seen him a few times, good player, especially going forward and could get goals from midfield

Exciting news? .. and a lift after the weekend 😀

Just an absurdly good signing. Genuinely one of the best midfielders in the league. We often look way too short creatively, especially when McShane is out of the side so Charlie will help a lot in that regard. Pretty sure he can play out wide as well so will help with the current shortage of fit wingers we have.

We do have a LOT of midfielders now though. I said the other day that I would be surprised if Kuhl features much going forward and I expect to see him even less now.

@calvertskans

Kuhl has been a big disappointment so far - I expected a lot of him, given his track record and performances at Slough.

Maybe he needs more time and more games? Maybe the step up is too great? Unfulfilled potential imo.

@adeb

It's a shame as I do like him and he looked great in a few games (Scunthorpe last game of last season and the Southend game this season). I just don't see what game time he will get going forward now as Josh Taylor, Carter, McShane, Pybus, Gallagher are all ahead of him. I can see Marc wanting the experience of Moore and McManus as well.

Maybe a loan until January will do him some good.

What a great signing that is!
Midfield will definitely benefit from more height, physicality and goal threat.

@CalvertSkans I too had high hopes for Kuhl as he looks to get on the ball and play forward. But he has had few games this season and yes, Saturday was a stinker.

Pybus, Carter and Taylor could be first choice 3 and then others will have to work hard to get on. Midfield has been bypassed for much of the season so far, but hopefully this will provide a better option of playing through it and getting the wingers on the ball higher up the pitch.

Looking forward to seeing how Carter shapes up.  Maybe at Alty?

Considering McShane is still injured, I assume Carter will slot straight in for Alty. I do think he will play Gallagher for the tough away games though as we look much more compact with him in the midfield. Wouldn't surprise me if Pybus drops out of the XI for this weekend.

Eastleigh fans on twitter ('X') are really cheesed off that he has left them!!

@dorking-eagle Yeah it's a bit of a difference from when Pybus left York 🤣

He is an attacking midfielder,  I'm sorry but I would play him instead of Mcshane,  I Mcshane has gone as far as he can IMO.

I would play him as a 10, as he does get a few goals arriving late. Play Pybus sitting.
