Dorking Wandering
The Dorking Wanderers FC Fans Forum
Here is the current NLS line-up so far for next season:
Guaranteed:
Chesham United (promoted from step 3)
Chippenham Town
Dorking Wanderers (relegated from step 1)
Hornchurch (promoted from step 3)
Slough Town
St Albans City
Tonbridge Angels
Weston-super-mare
Weymouth
Likely:
Aveley
Farnborough
Truro City
Welling United
We won't know the fate of Oxford City until we see who else gets relegated from the NL or if Merthyr Town potentially get promoted from the Southern Prem. The last relegated team from NLS is interesting and should be clearer over this next week. Hemel are probably ok but may get dragged in to if Taunton, Torquay and Eastbourne pick up wins this week.
A few new grounds for Dorking in there and Truro are moving back to Cornwall from next season as well.
What away day are people most looking forward to? Who do we think will bring the most fans to Meadowbank?
@dorking-eagle To be fair, looks like F'boro more than played their part. Quite likely too that some Shots fans came across for this one...
Probably a one off.
We get to visit Aveley next season, well happy with that, the only team in those play offs I haven't visited before.
Going well!

Next progress is that on Saturday we we learn that we will be joined next season by the loser of Chelmsford v Braintree

Braintree won 3-2 so we will definitely play Chelmsford next season. Worthing v Maidstone tomorrow.
and we'll play Maidstone 😣

So we know 21 of the 24 teams now.
The remaining 3 are:
One of Worthing or Braintree;
One of Totton, Salisbury, Gosport or Bracknell;
One of Chatham, Enfield, Wingate & Finchley, Horsham

To be honest, I hope Worthing go up as I think they would be harder opposition next season
Worthing and Braintree, been to both and they are both good away days (as long as Worthing don't segregate because the away corner there is rubbish compared to freedom of a lovely ground
Southern league, all 4 would be new grounds for me, although saw Dorking at Bracknell's old ground a few years ago. Salisbury would be my preference just because it's a bit of a way away.
Isthmian, Chatham would be the best away day in my opinion.

Next batch of games to keep an eye on -
Wednesday
Bracknell v Totton
Gosport v Salisbury
Chatham v Horsham
Enfield v Wingate & Finchley

@dorking-eagle Chatham - approach with caution. Got a bit of a reputation for annoying youth - bit like Solihull apparently. Terrible area too although the ground looks like it's in a nice spot.
Thanks Ade. (Still a wee bit annoyed Merthyr dropped out of it!)
Goes against the grain for non league doesn't it! See they charge U16s just £3, can often be a factor when it is so cheap if clubs don't hold a firm line or turn a blind eye because none of the volunteers have the balls to crack down on it.

@dorking-eagle Yeah I'd have liked a trip to Merthyr too.
It's an increasing problem I think - apparently Gosport Borough fans are being investigated for racist abuse and throwing beer at the Chesham United goalkeeper.
I agree it is growing, saw Chipstead's game a the weekend was abadoned because of racial abuse too.
I wonder if the outrageous cost of top level football is driving more people to lower levels of the game, where the clubs need the money a lot more, yet don't have the same resources to deal with issues that arise?
