For all Oldham chat.

Beautiful day. Coach making good progress north. What better time than today to bag first away win in NL north of South Mimms services?

Go Wanderers ! 💪⚽️🔴⚪️🔴

I am going to just come out and say it, Marc's disciplinary record is embarrassing. He should be setting an example to the players and all he is doing is losing credibility. If one of the players gets sent off, I am sure Marc reads them the riot act, but how can he be taken seriously when he is worse than the lot of them put together. I've said it before, it is and will continue to have a detrimental affect on the team, all the time he is not in the dugout. As for that video saying "wouldn't it be great to get sent off at Wembley", whether he is joking or not, is that really the image he wants to be portraying. We are in a serious league now and we want to be progressing, that sort of lunacy isn't really conducive to achieving this.

Agree with Mackers71.  Must admit I've been concerned since York last season.  I don't want Marc to lose his "passion" but he must get better control over his emotions.  if there IS a 16 stadium ban on the cards he must be more careful - it doesn't matter whether it should have been a yellow card rather than a red at Oldham. It should have been neither!!  His charisma has been key to getting over 700 people to buy into the club.  He must now use his talents to best effect to develop a sustainable strategy for keeping us in the National League and building for future success.  That may not be as boss of everything - ie Club founder, Owner, Chairman, Manager and CEO of Promote UK  Something has got to give.

@mackers71 just seen news clip on Twitter,  I can't believe he has said that, the Charles Bronson of the non League and wants to get sent off at Wembley!!

This is ridiculous he should have to answer to someone,  the committee???

Just imagine if you have put money into the club and have just seen this.

I have - and can honestly say it doesn't bother me at all.

He's quite clearly joking - probably taking it a little too far on this occasion but that's Marc. He can be sensible and honest, has clearly got the best business brain and it's all part of his USP - so does it really matter?

Do you think referees will also see it as a joke?  Some will see it as a death wish and will only be too happy to send him on his way.

As we saw early in the games at York and Oldham some refs are only to happy to have the smallest excuse to get shot of Marc. They are then free to do their job unhindered by criticism.

I love what makes Marc unique but he has to be a bit more careful.

The interview was a lot of fun if you watch it in full, yet the makers of it have taken a small snippet of him taking about not doing his coaching badges (with the obligatory F word) and plastered it all across social media today - it makes him look a bit cocky, which is a shame and I think many will take it out of context and think he's rather arrogant, which is a shame.

@adeb I appreciate it doesn't bother you but do you really think it's the right thing to be doing,  I don't see any other managers doing these silly podcasts. The interviewer was giggling like a little kid.

Marc is marmite. He enjoys doing the interviews and telling the many amusing stories about the history of the club, having entertaining answers to all manner of questions - he has fully earned the right to do so. I have heard the majority of the regular stories being told several times yet still really enjoy hearing them.

Like the love/hate marmite spread, I guess if he really annoys you then you wouldn't support DW. Because there's no getting away from Marc at DW - he is front and centre of almost everything.

I think at some point 'serious Marc mode' will get switched on - we've seen it before when results really matter, be it a race for promotion or like last year a fight for survival. Then you see jokey Marc a lot less and he means business. And when Marc means business nothing gets in his way and he is so effective.

It's interesting that Deano has had to stand in for Marc on matchday media duty a fair bit during his ban and red cards, and as good a guy that Deano is, he just doesn't communicate in such an engaging way as Marc does.

Marc clearly believes that these podcasts (as with all his media interviews) is winning new fans and building interest in the club. Loads of the new shareholder investors are people who have only ever seen the club on Bunch of Amateurs yet have put good money into the club shares.

I think Marc has got to put the club and the team first. And that means him being in the dug out - or at least I think it does.
If he can’t control himself enough to do this part of the job, he may have to leave it to those who can and Marc can focus on the business side and growing the club.

I am sure refs are happy to send him off if they can, but why is Marc giving them the chance? It’s unprofessional and damages the team.

Indeed, we haven't heard anything from Marc since the red card at Oldham (apart from a very brief appearance at the final whistle thanking the travelling fans for their support)

Obv. his reaction to the sending off is the main interest. Don't expect an appeal is worth pursuing as the new rules are there in black and white. Of course why the constant changes by the FA lawmakers (to the rules) would be a fair comment.

Be good to get his take on the 'over the line' goal as well. It can't be changed of course, but it's typical of our luck at the moment what with all the injuries as well.

Then there's the new signing this week, Tom Blair.

Not heard any more about the first shareholders update, but presume it's busy busy at the club with a million and one things happening right now.

All in all lots to cover!

Can't agree with your earlier comment David about Marc and Marmite.  He is a much more complex character with lots of strengths, lots to like about him and respect - but nobody is perfect and Baggy's comment is relevant and the issue about him controlling his emotions in the dugout is worrying.

My marmite comment comes from the fact that there are people out there who really cannot stand him.

Don't believe that everyone loves the cheekie chappy man of the people. Whilst I do, and I accept he has a few flaws, there are plenty out there who cannot stand him and are waiting for DW to fail.

The club mostly blocks those on twitter who make no secret that they don't like him and any that post negative stuff on social media are shouted down and blocked effectively, so you rarely see the comments, but there are even at least a couple of 'supporters' at the club itself too who have ranted about him not being good enough for this level etc and that he should be replaced when the going got a little tough!

I think he had more than earned a pass even if the club gets relegated a couple of times, after all where would DWFC be without him.

But you must see that not everyone loves Marc and that there are people out there who not only cannot stand him but also are actually wishing he 'fails'. Hence the description 'marmite'.

Covered the red card, non red card and ball over the line issues with good grace - no ranting, plenty of humility, expressed disappointment but left it like that.

Which was good.

And no ban as well which is great! Good to hear Briggs back for Wealdstone as well.

On the subject of podcasts, etc - Dorking is a small place and will only ever attract crowds of a certain size so these sort of media appearances are important for attracting attention from further afield and making us people's "second team", etc. He obviously plays up to the cameras a bit as I very highly doubt he would want to be sent off at Wembley if we did make a final there or something...
