Hopefully 2024 proves to be a bit more fruitful than 2023... We start with a trip to Oxford City on New Year's Day after a really dissapointing 0-2 defeat in the reverse fixture on Boxing Day.

Marc hinted at picking a "fitter" XI rather than trying to play players back in to fitness. I am not entirely sure what this means as we haven't got many fit players at the moment but I assume we won't take as many risks. Does that mean Pybus doesn't start on his return from injury? A return for Bobby-Joe Taylor perhaps? You have to assume that Prior, Fuller, McShane and possibly Francomb all miss this one. Doubtful that Muitt returns as well.

Predictions:

Oxford City 1-1 Dorking (Ottaway)

1,061 att.

                          Male

       Gallagher      Craig      Hollis

B. Taylor   McManus    J. Taylor   Bowerman

                        Carter

                  Moore   Ottaway

Subs: Philpot, Kennedy, Pybus, Blair, Briggs

Really a great way to kick off the New Year. Really wish we would have gotten a clean sheet because Harrison was fantastic again. That stop on the break away was tremendous. Some good moments. Going to be an uphill battle with Oldham next week, but hoping with the home crowd it can turn in our favor.

Oh, and it was good to see NcManus get that goal.

Watched on the stream (btw - didn't think 3pm kick off live coverage was allowed?) - and it looked a good, battling performance. Oxford C are clearly a team that's hard to play against. And they do look quite poor. But a great result with Josh Taylor and Seb particularly impressive (and Harrison of course, but that's becoming a given!).

Those that went - how many Wanderers? Looked to be segregated too - was that the case or did you all just gather in one place and stay there?

I think it's only Saturday 3pm's that are not allowed to be televised in the UK

About 150+ DW fans there

A small number scattered around (or went in the seats etc) but the majority all stayed together at the covered end

(it was unsegregated - Oxford usually get well under 1k attendances at home) It rained almost all the match and we'd taken up residence at the covered end pre kick off but elected not to quickly go down the end we were attacking 1st half as it was uncovered (and raining)
