Bit puzzled by Marc's continued reference to fans at Meadowbank being a bit 'prawn sandwich' 🤣

Certainly not the impression I get - and I used to follow Aldershot on and off.

Anyway, no big deal, but I don't think it's quite the reputation we want to portray to visiting teams.

Think it was just a way of him saying the fans are generally on the nicer/friendlier/posher side

I don't think offence was meant by the remark, but I do remember reading away fans reviews of visiting Meadowbank from DW's early years there, and some got the impression we were all 'new' fans, and more akin to a rugby crowd.

Personally I rather like that there is minimal to no bad language in the stands, it means we attract many families and also older people. I like the segregation at our home games, last thing we want is away fans causing friction because they want to change ends and stand on the Bank for one half.

I'm not saying the ground is full of happy clappy fannies like Dulwich, but it's very civilised and everyone is respectful of others. If that makes it prawn sandwich then pass the brown bread and butter!

That did make me chuckle when I heard him say that. I’ve never thought of the crowd as “prawn sandwich “ although you do occasionally get the brown corduroy types in on the day trip.

Generally everyone is polite and courteous, and I like it like that.

@gary-munnery yea I totally agree. Maybe the wording is wrong - 'prawn sandwich' used to mean not interested in the game and there for the hospitality. Definitely not the case at Meadowbank 🤣

'Brown corduroy' - hahaha - seen a few of those - usually the Boxing Day games.

To be fair, I do love a prawn sandwich.
