I am taking the unusual step of putting this in the general chat section of the forum - bear with me here.

The club has put on a supporters coach for the away game at Truro. It is ONLY £35 return

Totally appreciate many are really looking forward to this away match and so have booked their own independent trains and accommodation (to make a weekend of it, or longer)

If you haven't booked up and plan to - please do so, it will really help the club if there is a good use of the club coach travel.

(thank you to all who have already booked)

That is a bit steep, although I notice children pay a much reduced fare. Weymouth was only £20-25 though. Long trips with Crawley are £40 for everyone but it does include a buffet.

On the Dorking away coaches, about a third of the passengers are teenagers who would expect the kids price, and I think a LOT of the coach regulars wouldn't go at £60 fare

Dorking coaches ARE price sensitive in my opinion, most people know each other and can easily get together and do car shares if it is perceived better value to club together for a share of the petrol

Be interested what the buffet entails - is this at a planned pub stop? I take my own packed lucnches for the coach journey to be honest to keep the cost down

I thought £35 for Truro was a VERY reasonable bargain. £35 for Torquay is fair. £20 for Eastbourne is also the right price - they could have charged £25 for it and still got most people

Interestingly, Enfield had Torquay and Truro as their first 2 aways, and they charged £50 for Truro and £40 for Torquay, so we are well treated on prices that are fairly affordable.

Myself, I factor in how many of my family are going, if I am staying over etc - we stayed over 2 nights for Truro for example so the coach could have been a tenner and we would have still gone by car! For Eastbourne, my whole family of 3 are going but the decider is that we want to have the whole morning down there visiting the pier etc, so will drive it.

I do like tryng to see the local area if I haven't been to the place before too

Lots of factors!

I think it is great that the clubs runs the coaches at what seem to be relatively cheap prices - must help with the numbers going away, particularly the younger ones.  Like you @Dorking Eagle, I like to make a day / weekend of it for some of the better places. There are usually four of us, which makes going by car a cheaper and more flexible option, even if the coach was only £20.  Planning to make a long weekend of it in the English Riviera with the missus - at the expense of the home game v St Albans though 😓 .

The club clearly subsidise the coach, I hope the club think our wholehearted loud and proud support is worth it. The fans are certainly grateful for the subsidy and appreciative that the club try and make it affordable

In return the fans do work hard trying to encourage people to use the coaches wherever possible

Yes Dorking Eagle buffet on long Crawley away games is a pub stop. Basic food I understand, not provided in my last trip to Cambridge (£30)

£30 return to Cambridge is still a fair price though, esp when you factor in the dartford crossing both ways if you were to drive
