Dorking Wandering
The Dorking Wanderers FC Fans Forum
Another long trip to the South West as we face Torquay United this Saturday. Our last encounter there saw a dramatic 3-3 draw back in 2022.
Marc's update today revealed that Aaron Kuhl will sadly be out for around 3 months with an MCL injury although Brennan Camp is 50/50 for this weekend. Pybus, Murphy and Norville-Williams will return next weekend for the Eastbourne/Aveley double header while Dan Gallagher returns to the squad this weekend.
Predictions
Torquay 2-1 Dorking (Carter)
4,052 att.
Foulkes
Fuller Craig Francomb
Briggs J.Taylor Moore Bowerman
Carter
Prior Rutherford
Subs: Camp, B.Taylor, Gallagher, McManus, Muitt
If you are not going to Torquay check out the “B” Team who are playing Arundel at Meadowbank on Saturday, Kick-off 3pm (free admission for Season Ticket holders).
By the way, has anyone got an old easel that they would be willing to donate to the “B” Team & The Academy? One is needed to mount the new white board used on match days to display the home & away team sheets.
I'm predicting a narrow 2-1 win with some more hairy moments at the back!!

I'm going for a scrappy 1-1 draw (Carter). Worried about CDM position and the lack of sharpness in the final third...
The bloke in the bookies thought Torquay were a bit flaky so I’m going for a 2-1 DW win. COYW!
Well that was very frustrating not to come away with at least a point. I thought we were the better side but didn’t create nearly enough until the last few minutes. How that header went wide at the end I will never know. (Was it Barry?)
We dominated possession in first half but the passing was often too slow or inaccurate to get attacks into final third. I am sorry to single out Seb, but he just goes backwards and must be a dream to mark. We looked much better down the left when Bobby Joe came on.
Strange to see Briggsy go on up top for a while but we lacked pace up there so understandable. Carter looked better in that No.10 role but we missed Kuhl or Pybus in front of back four. Niall did not have a great game.
Plenty of work to be done on training field to turn possession into chances. On the plus side, we defended well and the goal was a terrific strike. Safe journey home all.
Gutted we came away with nothing, thought we looked good, particularly in the 1st half and had enough chances to at least score one

First 30-35 mins we were absolutely dominant. I don't think Torquay touched the ball more than a couple of times. Created a few good chances but should have created more.
Torquay started to get some control after that and it was a more even end to the half. Briggs up top at the start of the second half did not work at all and we could barely string 2 passes together for the first 15 mins until they scored.
Created enough in the last 15-20 mins to get something from the game though. That Fuller miss was gutting.
Injuries a major concern for tomorrow now...
