Dorking Wandering
The Dorking Wanderers FC Fans Forum
As it's a quiet week on here, let's get some predictions in for Saturday...albeit dependent on injury news;
Dorking (0) 2 Maidenhead United (1) 1 (Prior, Ottaway)
Att: 1,151 (89 Maidenhead fans)
Excellent performance, probably the best of the season. Agreed that second half was better than the first and we were unfortunate to not score more. Bobby's goal was a cracking strike not that dissimilar to the one he scored for the B Team last weekend. McShane goal was actually a really nice team goal as well.
McManus was great but I actually thought Josh Taylor was leagues above anyone else on the pitch. Francomb was great as well.
Brilliant to see Joel Brown get on the pitch as well. Looked very comfortable on the ball as per usual and didn't give the ball away once.
A fair few NL teams and top NLS/N teams went out as well so a good opportunity this to make the final.
Don't know why Ottaway didn't feature, must have been a late injury (?)
Mooro was terrific up front though, really held the ball up
Dominant 1st half performance, 2nd half put the game to bed
Like Joel, great passing for someone so little! Couldn't compete for headers but made a nuisance of himself against their keeper at a set piece!
Think the next round is truly national, so maybe we'll get that trip to Hereford after all! (just not Horsham again!)

Yes performance of the season for me. Both halves. Quick short passes, some great skill, just like the Wanderers of old, and didn't seem to matter that there was no striker.
MoM quite a hard call, as they all seemed to gel so well as a team, but probably Moore/McManus/BJ Taylor for me.
Anyone know the attendance? Looked around 800 to me, unsurprising given all pay, it's close to Xmas and M'head not exactly a big draw.
@dorking-eagle - agree - it's Hereford for me in the next round please. Along with Aldershot probably the best ground in the country imo.
What a performance that was. It almost seemed like the lack of a recognised striker forced us to play football the "Wanderers way". Lots of positives to take into the Woking game.
I agree @ EthanT with the lack of striker. Male played out from the back every time and it worked pretty well. Only one scare from a mistake. Mooro did a great job in in unfamiliar role. Same as Francomb. But I don’t think the press from Maidenhead was very committed on the day. Second half saw some vintage Wanderers football for sure. Let’s hope for more of the same next Saturday
I can’t remember being so relaxed about the result of a game. Of course going 3-0 up before half time helps but I didn’t feel Maidenhead offered much at all. In part due to a very good team performance from us.
The energy, passing and movement was up there with the best I’ve seen this season. Some solid performances all over the pitch but in particular Mooro, the Taylors and Francomb I thought were superb.
Let’s hope for a favourable draw today so we can make a real push for Wembley!
The Trophy 4th round weekend is a 'Palace free' weekend for me as it's their winter break, so I am really up for a good Dorking away-day, somewhere distant, and maybe get to make a weekend of it. Not Gateshead please, done that twice now!
Some tasty names in the hat, not just Hereford, but also
Macclesfield
Bishop's Stortford
Nantwich
would be ace!
Or maybe:
Walsall Wood / Coalville
Radcliffe / Redditch Utd
Aveley
Peterborough Sports
Hythe Town
Weston Super Mare
or Hendon
Lots of grounds 'different' to the ones we usually visit!

@dorking-eagle Some good ones there, agreed - plus possibly Whitehawk of they get past Hythe.
Yeah absolutely - some either / or's still in the hat
As an aside, I see that Woking have to play at Weston Super-Mare tomorrow, but rain is forecast all day down there. If it gets postponed, does that mean Woking will have to play that Trophy game (rather than us) on Saturday?

Now that's a very good point. Guess if it does, another week of injury recovery wouldn't do any harm? Maybe it could move to the following Tuesday night?
I don't if anyone knows the answer to this question. It seems as though Dorking recorded the entire game (saw the highlights on youtube). Is there a reason that Dorking can't post the game in its entirety on Youtube? Is this some sort of FA rule? I listen to all the games that I can't watch, but that game really makes me want to watch it in its entirety. Hoping this proves a really fruitful run.
Macclesfield away
Sooooo happy with that - a former league ('92') ground

@robh Only time I have ever seen us put out a full 90 on YouTube was the Dagenham 5-1 game last season for some reason.
It is at least an 'interesting' draw being a new team and good ground, etc. However, they are a very tough team and much better than a Step 3 side. If we want to make the final then you would rather avoid these sorts of away ties.
It also means a lot more travelling with Alty and York around it that month...
Never been to Macclesfield. Have seen it though when going by on the train. Game will be on, as they play on a 4G pitch. Think this will be a nailed on game for me to attend.
I'll have a Guinness
