Let's have your predictions for Saturday - I'm not being too fooled by Working's poor form though, and think there might be a reaction to the defeat at Weston last night...Also, this is of course pending injury news;

Dorking (1)2 Woking (0)1

2,480 (679 from Surrey's other club)

2 forwards on the bench and didn't start with 1 of them, shocking decision.

If he comes out with the  management picked the wrong team again,  it will be a bloody joke.  With All the analysts they have, questions need to be aanswered.

@happy-hammers Well I don't think Ottaway was fit enough to play more than a few minutes so there was no chance he was starting. I do agree though that the team was wrong and the subs were also wrong.

I was worried after last week that we would try this Moore up front experiment again and that it would be a mistake. Rutherford should definitely have started the game as we had no focal point up top first half.

Second half was absolutely dreadful. Taking off Bobby was a mistake with only 2 wide players in the squad. So little quality on show once Carter went off (who was excellent) and the ball spent considerably more time in the air than on the ground.

Woking are one of the worst sides in the league and I don't think we created a single real chance in the game other than the goal.

We will go down this season.

Fair assessment from Marc on his post match interview 👏👏 acknowledging some team and subs mistakes

Woking bit of a bogey team at the moment and similar gutted feeling to last years home game v Woking

Charlie Carter will be a huge addition for Wanderers and we will get enough wins to stay in the division

Double header v Oxford City on Boxing day and NY is big though and needs to return 4 points minimum 🤔

@sddwfc

you say a fair assessment of the game by Marc.

But how many  times can a manager keep saying the management team made mistakes?

Carter looked very good and a threat going forward.

@calvertskans that's a bit strong saying we are going down 😀, but we are getting dragged to the wrong of the table, I must admit.

We have to definitely beat teams around us, the 2 Oxford City games are must win I think.

@happy-hammers I think he took his fair share of the management team blame comments though and we are very much up against it in squad fitness and depth of fit players

The transition from part time to full time and players fitness will take time

More Charlie Carters too pls 🐔⚽️🙌

Home form kept us up last season but we've been really poor at home this season and I think that might cost us. We had 30 points after Boxing Day last season and I think we will be very lucky to have that many by this Boxing Day as I don't see us getting anything at Eastleigh.

If we can get all the players back and fit (which I don't think we will with our ageing squad and part time status) then we will probably have a chance. The only 4 teams I can see finishing below us are Oxford, Kidderminster, Fylde and Ebbsfleet at this point and I get the feeling that Ebbsfleet will get their act together at some point.

The one hope is that most of our away games in the second half of the season are local which will help.

We never really got anything going. We did have a few (very few chances). There was a good set up by Muitt in the 2nd half that seemed to slid past two of our players. Some good stuff in the midfield with Carter and Josh Taylor. I agree with others that pointed out that Rutherford should have started, and Ottaway could have come on once Alfie needed to come off.

Out of curiosity was the home crowd more silent? I could hear Woking side from time to time, but usually I can hear Dorking fans, and didn't for a lot of the game.

Did anyone else listen to Marc on the Peter Crouch podcast this week? I don't want to trawl through all 1hr 5 mins of it again but do I remember Marc mentioning a £750k hole in the budget for between now and May or did I imagine it? If so does this suggest the playing budget is already pushed to the max? Also something vague about you don't as a club budget for doing well in the FA Cup but if you do it's good for about £500k?

Of course you can't expect an Aldershot-esque 3rd round proper cup run except perhaps once in a decade if you are lucky, but Horsham beating us, getting on live tv and continuing to Round 2 probably got them £100k in the bank, which is a real opportunity lost.

I agree the two games v Oxford are huge, get a good return from them and try to take the Trophy as seriously as possible, pre-order our replica shirts and get behind the club in every way we can, it's a tough old league.

@dorking-eagle I'd be the opposite and not take the FA Trophy serious at all. It means absolutely nothing compared to staying in the league.

We will also likely have a midweek game every week in January so don't wanna risk too much in the cup.

I did find that £500k comment on the podcast a bit odd as well.

My bad if it was £500k instead of £750k. The last week has been a bit of a blur tbh.

Sure there was an article in the local paper too saying the ground purchase should be done by the end of the season.

But didn't Marc also say on the Crouch podcast he wanted the ground to be EFL quality too. Does owning the freehold suddenly increase the income (or reduce the outgoings)?

Can a club with our attendances / volume of local sponsors really be rebuilding changing rooms to EFL dimensions? And presumably upgrade floodlights (again), add yet more turnstiles and toilets and so on? Not to mention add a roof on the away end etc.

We've had such torrid luck with injuries that just staying up has to be the most important thing but goodness knows how we can push on from surviving in this league to actually competing in the top half.

That was a poor performance and didn’t deserve anything more. Disappointing not to be able to apply pressure in second half to a very average team.

Agree that is was bizarre not to start with a forward and to take Carter off - he will be a star for sure. Why take Bobby Joe off too?

As so often, it was suicide to play out from back in first half. Had to play long in to feet and quality was not there.

And at the back I think we need some pace back there, as the second goal showed. Can’t be caught on the break like that.

But with a full team back I think there is enough quality to get enough points to survive. Any game is winnable as well as losable.

Anyone know where McManus and Kennedy were today? I was surprised to not see Niall even in the squad after an MOM performance last week so assuming he is injured?

I honestly don't think today's performance was all that bad. At the end of the day we've matched a side which was challenging for promotion last season, all done with a horrific injury list. (yes I know Woking have their injury problems too). And if Alfie has stretched a fraction further it could well have been a different outcome.

Re the Trophy - I'm a strong believer that cup runs help and don't hinder league form. Wins breed confidence. And an appearance at Wembley? That really would be something special.

Re the ground, all I have heard is that owning the ground should be a game changer - especially in terms of development.

Onwards and upwards.
