Worthing are the visitors on Boxing Day at Meadowbank. A side that currently sit one point behind us in 7th place with 3 wins and a draw in their last 5 games. The Worthing side also features four ex-Wanderers in the form of Nicky Wheeler, Kane Wills, Sam Beard and Joe Cook.

Marc mentioned in his update that the squad should be the same as Chesham with the only question mark being whether or not they continue to rest Charlie Carter to allow him further time to recover from his knock. Dan Pybus did play 45 mins (and scored) for the B Team on Saturday but it seemed as though Marc suggested he would not feature on Boxing Day for the first team.

Predictions:

Dorking 2-2 Worthing (Rutherford, Prior)

2,438 att.

                         Foulkes

         Camp          Craig         Milsom

Briggs       Gallagher      McManus        Muitt

                          Young

                    Prior      Rutherford

Subs: Francomb, Norville-Williams, Carter, Randall, Murphy

@calvertskans Completely agree with Tom here apart from the Briggsy red card which was disguising from him, although at another ground with more space it isn't even an issue. Ref lost control and we lost our heads. Although Alife was really poor, I and a lot of others still felt he should have stayed on instead of Prior who was getting cramp just 2 minutes after the Alfie sub. Alfie was altleast running around and putting pressure on players as opposed to Jason who just stood there and lost the majority of his headers again. 3 points dropped as we were the better side across the game even with 10 v 12.

Might have been a bit generous to Briggsy; the replay of the red looks really bad and it wouldn't surprise me if he gets more than a 3 game ban for that. I don't think he meant to push Wills in to the barrier and it was more just the force he was running at meant the push was much harder than he thought it would be.

I agree - you can see right away he regrets it - in the heat of the moment maybe didn't realise both the strength of push and the proximity to the barrier. With no barrier that might well have been a yellow.

Either way, comments online from Worthing that it was 'the worst thing they've ever seen on a football pitch' are, quite frankly, ridiculous.

Has Briggs ever had a red for us before? I can't think of any in recent years but he's obviously been at the club a long time so might have been one in the early years.

Either way, hes clearly not that sort of player and always seems quite mild-mannered. Definitely no malicious intent at all.

In my opinion it's not good enough. May have been a rush of blood to the head but it still drops his team mates, and ultimately the club, in the shit. I'm watching on a steam but even I could see that a number of the players seemed more intent on physical battles than the match. I assume that this was due to the high level of ex-team members in the opposition team.

In any event, Briggs wouldn't be getting on the pitch, for a very long time, were I the manager.

You cannot get promoted by dropping so many points, especially when the points are gifted away.

@scoobs It's a good job that you will never be a Manager with that ridiculous attitude.

Indeed.

Briggsy was joint best player alongside Muitt for the August and September in my opinion, also remember who scored both goals at Chippenham. Having suffered serious injury himself on this pitch he wouldn't intentionally harm another player I am sure. Briggsy has been at DW forever and from seeing him over all these years I don't believe he is at all malicious. Lovely guy with a heart of gold. He was going full tilt that is all and the suspension he gets is punishment enough. Nobody at the club is perfect or they would be playing a couple of divisions higher.
