Can Dorking bounce back from their worst ever performance and result just 3 days later away at York City? York had a weekend off due losing in the previous round of the FA Trophy and they come in to the game in very good form after not losing in the league since mid-November.

Dorking will be without McShane and Briggs due to injury and you would imagine Fuller misses out as well after limping off the field late against Macclesfield. You would also expect Luke Moore will also miss the game through suspension after his 6 minute red card yesterday. Jimmy Muitt could return from injury/being cup-tied though and you may see Rutherford and Cook return to the squad (although no official confirmation of this yet and Weymouth do have a game the same night).

Cold temperatures and snow is expected on Tuesday in York so it remains to be seen if the game will go ahead.

Predictions:

York 3-1 Dorking (Carter)

4,290 attd.

                                   Male

        Francomb            Craig           Kennedy

Blair                 J.Taylor       Pybus              Bowerman

                                Carter

                        Prior          Ottaway

Subs: Gallagher, Hollis, B.Taylor, McManus, Muitt

I'm sorry to say, can't see nothing but a defeat on Tuesday. Reading all the posts from Saturday, not sure where Marc and the team can go.

Gone through past results since promotion. Every time we've suffered a big defeat (I'm counting at least 4 goals' difference) we've followed up with a win.

03/09/22, lost 5-0 to Wrexham followed by 1-0 away win to Barnet

07/1/23, lost 5-1 to Oldham followed by a 3-2 win to Kidderminster

11/11/23, lost 6-0 to Gateshead followed by a 2-1 win to Borehamwood.

Only 3 games I know but we can clearly put bad performances behind us. This time last season we were in a similar run but didn't have Craig/Francomb in defence, Alfie out the whole season and JP hadn't returned yet.

Don't know if anyone else agrees but I get the impression for some reason the players just put less effort in for cup games. Now they are out of the way, hopefully we can find some good league form.

@georges Yeah I was thinking that as well - we generally put in a good performance or result after a bad loss. Even the disastrous Horsham FA Cup game was followed up by a really good away performance to Bromley.

I do think that the fact it was a Trophy game against lower league opposition brought the player levels down to like 60% or so on Saturday. Just a shame for us fans who had travelled and spent money to watch that.

On a side note, Alfie tweeted out about his time at Weymouth ending so you would expect him to be back in the squad for Saturday which is a welcome boost.

Not surprising postponed. All but one in National League. Hopefully,  extra rest can be used effectively  for well needed win at home on Saturday.

Some very strange York fans on Twitter during all of this. Even Halifax fans weren't this weird when they postponed the game 3 times last season.

Hope we batter them when the game eventually goes ahead 👍

Halifax fans were (are) genuinely embarrased at the state of their pitch - I would guesstimate about half their home 'winter' fixtures are postponed for one reason or another. But it's a Council owned facility, shared with rugby and really needs the pitch redoing, which they can't afford themselves on gates similar to ours (shame as I really like the ground)

York fans that are reacting come across as a bit defensive, probably because it's a fairly new ground and they don't like criticism (even if its the ref that called it off, and the Stadium Management Company, not their club who are responsible for getting it playable)

There is some merit to their claim that 6.5 hours is reasonable notice, however in reality of course lots of our fans are going to take the whole day off for it, and therefore travel up starting their journeys in the morning rather than leave it late. Plus there was no hint of their needing to be an inspection - fans were led to believe the pitch cover would leave the pitch 'toasty' according to a tweet on Monday!
