"Why would I leave to join a League Two club? We're going there anyway!" - Marc White
All hi, just wanted to wish you all a safe journey tomorrow.
For things to do;
If you’re coming up early, I’d recommend having a walk around the Town centre. Of course we have the crooked spire (always worth a photo), but there also about 5/6+ pubs all in the space of less than a 5 minute walk. Start in the “Pig & Pump”, then there’s a Spoons and “The Rutland”.
The ground is a good 20 minute walk from the town centre. Luckily it’s mostly downhill. You can walk down Sheffield Road (Quite hilly) but there’s also a second route near the train station past the college. This route is flat and far more user friendly. There’s plenty of Taxis (about £5) and buses that go that way.
Around the ground, for Pubs we have the “Donkey Derby - GreenKing” or “Glassworks - Owned by a local brewery” (will have the football on before the match). “Derby Tup” is a little walk (3-5 minutes) past the stadium but has a great selection of real ales.
For food, there’s a big Tesco right next to the ground. You can’t miss it. There’s also a KFC & the Donkey Derby will also do food.
Directly across from the Stadium is the “Batchhouse”. In there, there’s 5/6 independent food outlets. All really good & inside, more importantly as it’s going to rain all day. The food in the ground is quite expensive. FYI!
Best of luck today. Have a safe journey up.
(There lots of street parking around the ground if you’re driving up).
If you’re interested in learning more about the Spireites over the summer. I also do a Chesterfield podcast called SpireitesWrite with 2 mates. We talk a healthy amount about Dorking this week.
